RAVENEL, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston County Coroner's Office identified the man found in a drainage ditch Sunday afternoon.
The body was that of 70-year-old George Ancrum of Ravenel, according to Charleston County Deputy Coroner Sara Senn.
A Ravenel woman who found the body told deputies her barking dogs led her to the grisly discovery.
The woman told Charleston County deputies her dogs had been barking at a flock of vultures on her property in the 4,000 block of Davidson Road, according to an incident report. When she went to investigate, she discovered a man's body in the ditch, she said.
The body was discovered a few yards off the road, deputies said.
According to authorities, it appeared the body may have been there for several days.
Initial reports said there was no evidence of foul play, however the cause and manner of death have not yet been determined, Senn said.
