(WCSC) - Deals and steals were on shoppers minds as they waited for Towne Centre stores to open in Mount Pleasant Thursday.
More than 500 people stood outside, waiting to get into Belk department store for door buster sales starting at 6pm. Katy Graening said she comes with family each year for Thanksgiving shopping.
"If you're here right when it starts, it's crazy," Graening said. "We had to climb under tables one year to find the boots that we wanted."
Catherine Brooks also stood in line waiting for boot specials. Brooks said she didn't mind the wait given Thursday's beautiful weather; she was also excited about the chance to win extra savings available from special gift card deals, given out to early bird customers at Belk.

Old Navy, Victoria's Secret, Bath & Body Works and Palmetto Moon, among others, also opened to customers Thursday afternoon.  Towne Centre was one stop of many for some shoppers. 14-year-old Giovani Simmons said her family was also headed to Target and Wal-Mart later. She said being in front of the line meant her family could get what they need and then head home for Thanksgiving leftovers.

"If you come earlier in the day on Thanksgiving, you don't have to wait in line that long," Simmons said. "Then when you get in the door, you can just get what you need and go back out and eat some more."

Some stores continue to stay open overnight into Black Friday. Check store websites for individualized information on hours, Black Friday deals and locations.
