SULLIVAN'S ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - A judge has set bond at just over $21,000 for a man charged with disturbing a church service on Sullivans Island using a piece of driftwood shaped like a gun.
James Goulah is charged with congregating for an unlawful purpose and disturbing a religious worship.
A newly released affidavit states the incident happened at the Stella Maris Church on Sunday when Goulah entered the church and walked down the center aisle towards the alter.
"At the alter defendant then turned around to face the assembly, and stood one foot and extended his arms upward," court documents state."The defendant then reached into his pocket and pulled out a gun like shaped item."
Authorities say he placed the item to his head.
According to investigators, Goulah was then quickly removed and detained.
The gun shaped item was determined to be a piece of driftwood.
According to authorities, there were no firearms involved in the incident.
