JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - Investigators have arrested a teenager accused of robbing and shooting at a pizza delivery driver on James Island.
The Charleston County Sheriff's Office arrested 17-year-old Keon Daunte Moore on Wednesday and charged him with attempted murder, armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.
According to CCSO officials, Moore was interviewed by deputies and confessed to the robbery.
The charges stem from an incident on Nov. 10 when deputies responded to the area of Williams Road and Dills Bluff Road for an armed robbery.
The victim said he called the customer's phone number since he was unable to find the home where the food was to be delivered.
The victim then made arrangements with the customer to meet him. When the victim arrived he saw a male subject wearing a dark hoodie talking on a cell phone; the victim said he could tell it was the same person he spoke with on the phone.
According to investigators, the suspect walked up to the driver side door at which point the victim told him the price of the order.
The victim said as he was looking down, he heard a gunshot and looked up and saw the suspect pointing a gun to his head.
The victim reported the suspect then demanded everything he had including money and the food.
Authorities say the victim believed he was struck by a bullet after seeing blood on his hand where he wiped his face.
CCSO officials say they identified Moore as the suspect since he used his cell phone to call in the order.
Court documents state Moore's mother told investigators she remembered her son coming home with pizza and telling her that he had purchased it.
