Authorities investigating two Wednesday night armed robberies

WALTERBORO, SC (WCSC) -

Authorities are investigating two armed robberies that happened in Walterboro Wednesday night. 

The first incident happened around 7 p.m. when Walterboro police officers responded to a Sunoco on 1137 Bells Hwy in reference an armed robbery that just occurred.

"The victim stated that a black male came inside the store, wearing a face mask, brandished a knife and demanded money from the clerk," police say. 

The subject fled the scene on foot with an unknown amount of U.S. currency from the register.

Then at 9:08 p.m. officers responded to Petro Express on 1111 Sniders Hwy in reference an armed robbery that just occurred.

According to the victim, a black male came inside the store, wearing a face mask, brandished a firearm and demanded money.

Police say the subject fled the scene on foot with an unknown amount of U.S. currency from the register.

"Both incidents remain under investigation and at this time investigators have not determined if the incidents are related," police say.
