Live Oak Tree Safe for Now

After gaining much attention a Live Oak on Johns Island that was scheduled to be removed Monday, is safe for now.

According to a press release from the SCDOT Interim Secretary of Transportation Christy Hall announced today that SCDOT has suspended the removal of the tree. The release goes on to say that after speaking with Mayor Joe Riley about the tree, Secretary Hall agreed to postpone the removal to allow the city to submit an alternative plan.

SCDOT will review the plan once it has been submitted.
