BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Officials have released the manner of death for a victim of homicide in Ridgeville.
According to autopsy results released by the Berkeley County Coroner, 55-year-old James Hill suffered gunshot wounds to the chest, shoulder and back.
Deputies have issued a warrant for a Summerville man in connection with the killing. They are searching for Lonnie Haskell Powers, Jr., 37, after investigating Hill's death.
Hill was found at his home on the 2400 block of Old Gilliard Road, according to Berkeley County Sheriff's spokesman Michael Mulé.
Deputies responded at approximately 12:37 p.m. to a call from Hill's girlfriend in reference to a shooting. The Berkeley County coroner was called to the home Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Hill's body was sent to MUSC for an autopsy, the coroner's office said.
Mulé says an active warrant for murder was issued for Powers, but said the motive was not yet known.
Powers was last seen driving a red 2007 Kia Rio with South Carolina license place 624 1FE, deputies say.
