An anonymous tip led to the arrest of two Berkeley County Alternative students for having a weapon at school.

Moncks Corner Police responded to a tip from a person who said they saw a picture on social media of a student holding a gun in a classroom, according to Lt. Michael Roach.

The Berkeley Alternative School was placed on administrative lockdown while law enforcement investigated, according to Berkeley County School District spokesperson Katie Orvin.

No weapons were found on campus during the search.

"We appreciate the cooperation and support of everyone who reports these concerns and helps to keep our schools safe," Orvin said. "We ask that parents and guardians continue to encourage their students to report any concerns to teachers and administrators."

The incident is still under investigation. The teens will be in bond court Wednesday.
