NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

An attempt to rob the same North Charleston bank that had been robbed on Tuesday was interrupted by a detective who was inside the bank at the time.

Sheldon Lamar Huger, 40, was arrested and charged with Entering a Bank to Steal, according to North Charleston Police spokesman Spencer Pryor.

Shortly before 3 p.m., Huger entered the First Citizens Bank on 5090 Dorchester Rd. and presented a note to the teller demanding money, Pryor said. An on-duty North Charleston Police detective was inside the bank conducting a follow-up to Tuesday's bank robbery at the time and overheard the suspect in line instructing the teller which denomination of money he wanted, Pryor said.

The detective identified himself and challenged the suspect who fled on foot. After a brief foot chase, Huger was apprehended outside a convenience store at Dorchester Road and Montague Avenue.

This is the second time in two days a robbery occurred at the bank. The bank was robbed on Tuesday and police arrested two people,

Huger, who told investigators he is homeless, was being held pending a bond hearing Thursday.
