Charleston police looking for man accused of assaulting, kidnapping woman

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

Charleston police are searching for a 35-year-old North Charleston man accused of putting a knife to a woman's neck, bounding and strangling her.

Kennier Wiggins is wanted for attempted murder, kidnapping and possession of a weapon during a violent crime in connection to an incident at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to Charleston Police spokesman Charles Francis.

Police say after he assaulted and strangled the victim, he left her unconscious with her two small children still on the scene.

Wiggins fled the area in a maroon Chevy Malibu with South Carolina license plate KDT-824, police say.

He is described as 5'9" in height, weighing 180 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information on Wiggins' whereabouts is asked to call Charleston County Consolidated Dispatch at (843) 743-7200 and ask for the on-call detective or Crime Stoppers at (843) 554-1111.
