NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Charleston County deputies have identified the man who barricaded himself inside a Rivers Avenue motel then eluded police by escaping through the ceiling of the room and exiting the motel.

Charleston County Sheriff's Maj. Eric Watson identified the suspect late Friday as 27-year-old Dale Ferebee, who is wanted for four outstanding bench warrants. However it is not clear what the specific charges are or which agency has issued the warrants.

U.S. Marshals and members of the North Charleston Police Department were attempting to serve felony warrants on him at the Siesta Motor Lodge at approximately 2 p.m. Friday when he barricaded himself in the bathroom of the motel room, NCPD spokesman Spencer Pryor said. Negotiators and SWAT team members were called to the scene to attempt to make contact with the suspect.

Authorities searched the area surrounding the motel and found no trace of the suspect, Pryor said.

Ferebee is 5'6" in height and weighs 170 pounds according to jail records.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts should contact their local law enforcement or Crime Stoppers at (843) 554-1111.
