CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - If you're planning to hit the highway this weekend or into next week for holiday travel, a record number of motorists will be sharing the road with you.
AAA says for the first time ever, more than 100 million people are expected to take a trip for the Christmas holiday and most of those travelers, the agency says, are planning to drive.
Experts suggest an improving job market, higher income and lower gas prices have all combined to fuel the travel frenzy.
Prices at the pump are the lowest they have been in years. As of Friday afternoon, gas prices were at a low of $1.67 per gallon at several Lowcountry locations.
