CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Lowcountry residents stood in line at area post offices Friday before another key shipping deadline passes.
It was one of the busiest days before Christmas, and the day before the deadline to mail anything First Class to have it delivered by Christmas Eve.
Throughout the week, lines at post offices had customers waiting anywhere from just a few minutes to up to a half-hour.
After Saturday, only two postal deadlines remain for getting a gift to the recipient before Christmas Day.
Monday is the last day to send a package via Priority Mail for Christmas Eve delivery.
Then Wednesday is the last day to send Priority Mail Express for overnight delivery on Christmas Eve.
U.S. Postal Service officials say they expect to deliver 600 million packages through New Year's Eve. Companies like FedEx and UPS are also running in high gear to get holiday packages to their destinations on time, but customers should visit their websites for a list of deadlines.
