CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - If the South Carolina presidential primaries were held in the last few weeks, both Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton would blow away the competition, according to Real Clear Politics.
Real Clear's average of three polls shows Trump with a commanding lead of 33.7%, followed by Ted Cruz at 19.3% ,Marco Rubio at 12.7% , Dr. Ben Carson at 11.3% and Jeb Bush at 7.3%.
On the Democratic side, Real Clear Politics shows the race is even more lopsided.
In Real Clear's average of the three latest polls, Hillary Clinton has 68% of the vote compared to Bernie Sanders 23.3% and Martin O'Malley's 3.3%.
The polls are by CBS/YouGov, The Augusta Chronicle and FOX News, and were taken from Dec. 5 to Dec. 17.
Real Clear Politics says the average of seven national polls taken from November 23 through December 17 shows Clinton would defeat Trump nationwide by about six percentage points, 48.4% for Clinton and 42.3% for Trump.
