Investigators searching for suspect in Williamsburg Co. armed robbery

WILLIAMSBURG COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -

Investigators with the Williamsburg County Sheriff's Office are looking for a suspect in an armed robbery Tuesday night. 

At 8:30 p.m., deputies responded to a home on Hemingway Highway in Hemingway to speak to two victims, a male and female.

"According to investigators, an African – American male suspect armed with a handgun wearing all black clothing to include a black ski mask made contact with the victims at the residence," WCSO officials said. 

Authorities say the suspect made contact with the male victim outside the home demanding money.

A report states the suspect then threatened to kill the male if he did not follow his commands.

"Based on the information gathered at the scene, the suspect ordered the male victim inside the residence, and demanded additional money from the female victim prior to fleeing the scene," WCSO officials said. 

The Williamsburg County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a person of interest in connection with the armed robbery.

The sheriff's office released pictures of an individual who investigators say may be connected to the incident. According to authorities, the individual attempted to cash some of the checks belonging to the victim at a local bank. 

Authorities are asking for anyone that has information concerning this incident to call 843-355-6381. 

The sheriff's office is continuing the investigation.
