Scott targets Obama's Guantanamo plans in politically-spun holiday poem

HANAHAN, SC (WCSC) -

U.S. Senator for South Carolina Tim Scott released a Christmas-themed poem illustrating his opinion that inmates should not be brought to the United States from Guantanamo Bay in Cuba.

The poem was released on his verified social media accounts Wednesday.

Officials with the Obama administration say they want to close the Guantanamo facility and bring as many as 50 inmates to the mainland United States. The Pentagon has looked at the brig in Hanahan as well as prisons in Kansas, Illinois and Colorado as a place to bring the prisoners.

"Twas the night before Christmas,

When all through the White House

The President was transferring terrorists as quiet as a mouse," the first stanza of the poem reads.

Scott visited Guantanamo Bay in October.

"Guantanamo Bay is the only location on Earth for these dangerous terrorists to stay. Not South Carolina, not Kansas, not Colorado - Guantanamo Bay," reads a post on Scott's Facebook page.
