SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) -

For those who aren't able to check off everything on their Christmas shopping lists, Christmas Eve is their last chance.

Those last-minute shoppers raced against time as stores plan to close on Christmas Eve.

But the mad dash in the final hours before Christmas aren't always the result of procrastination. For some shoppers, like truck driver Thomas Flynn, last-minute shopping was the only option.

"Sometimes you get on the road and you can't actually do your shopping but I did really want to do it," he said. "But it's not too bad out here today."

Parking lots were nearly full in Summerville as shoppers packed stores searching for the perfect gift.

"The sales people are nice they've been trying to help you out the best they can," Flynn said. "I think they're just like the rest of us they want to get on out and be over with it."

Other shoppers say they just came out to shop for something to do.

Northwoods Mall is scheduled to close at 6 p.m. Thursday, while Citadel Mall will close two hours later at 8 p.m. Walmart will also close at 8 p.m. while Target will really give last-minute shoppers a helping hand by keeping their doors open until 11 p.m.
