COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - The University of South Carolina professor shot and killed in February kept a secret from most of his family, colleagues and even the police until his death.
Raja Fayad was a victim of domestic abuse.
The abuse appeared to be mental and emotional until Feb. 5, when Sunghee Kwon killed them both after a 10-minute meeting in Fayad's office.
The case report from the State Law Enforcement Division obtained by The Associated Press shows a man who tried to keep his marriage and its failure a secret. Fayad didn't tell a police officer called to get his ex-wife out of his classroom that they were once married.
Fayad didn't tell his graduate students who were keeping Kwon out of his lab or his own mother about his ex-wife.
