Suspect in attempted strangling turns himself in

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A North Charleston man wanted in the attempted murder of a woman has surrendered himself to law enforcement officials, a representative for the Charleston Police Department says.

Kennier Wiggins was wanted for attempted murder, kidnapping and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. Police say he held a knife to the throat of a woman he knew, bound her and tried to strangle her in a Hanover Street apartment on Dec. 17.

The 35-year-old surrendered himself on Monday morning.

The investigation in ongoing, the representative says.

Bond for his charge of having a knife during the commission of a violent crime has been set at $100,000. Bond has not been set for his two other charges.
