ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -

Bond was denied for a 45-year-old man accused of killing a Holly Hill woman.

Harold Pratt made his first court appearance on Tuesday where a judge denied bond on charges of murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime.

Officials with the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office say Pratt would have to go to a circuit court judge at a later date for any bond consideration.

Pratt was charged on Monday with the murder of 38-year-old Loretta Bunch whose body was recovered about five miles south of Holly Hill on Highway 453 in a waterway near an overpass.

The sheriff's office says Bunch's body was recovered in less than 24 hours after authorities received a call reporting Bunch missing.

Relatives reported that Bunch had been last seen on Christmas.

“Our investigators were notified of this victim’s disappearance around 5 p.m. on Sunday,” Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said. “Initially, they worked tirelessly searching for this lady. Once it became clear what had happened, the case then had two focuses – bring this lady home and find her killer.”

A preliminary motive in the case is that a dispute may have occurred prior to the Christmas Day shooting, according to the sheriff's office.
