CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A hotel chain has apologized to a local journalist after asking him not to include their hotel in a picture featuring the Mother Emanuel AME Church.
Quintin Washington had tweeted the post below on Sunday of the church where nine people were killed in June.
The Courtyard Charleston Historic District asked Washington to take down the photo because part of the hotel property could be seen in the picture.
The hotel tweeted to Washington, "We respectfully ask you not to include the hotel in mother AME photos."
Washington says the hotel has since apologized after the incident caused a lot of controversy on social media.
"I just wish that people in totality will really think about what they tweet out before they say it," Washington said."But other than that, it's a teachable moment for everyone."
Washington said the company has promised further actions.
