CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

A judge denied a sentence reduction on Wednesday for a 21-year-old West Ashley man who was found guilty of a fatal DUI crash that killed a teenager.

James Munn was sentenced in July to 14 years in prison for killing 17-year-old Kylie Gillette in a car crash in August of last year.

Gillette, a James Island Charter High School senior, was killed instantly in the accident on River Road and died from a brain stem injury, according to prosecutors.

Prosecutors say Munn was driving 94 miles per hour before crashing into Gillette''s SUV.

The day before the incident, prosecutors say Munn illegally bought beer and brought it to a party where he mourned the loss of a friend killed in an airplane crash.
