State prosecutors have filed paperwork in the case against the former North Charleston police officer accused of murder.
In a 10-page response to a motion filed by the attorney of Michael Slager, Solicitor Scarlett Wilson reiterated the reasons she believes his upcoming trial should be held in the fall, instead of in March or April.
Slager's attorneys want his trial to get underway in a few months, but in the response filed Wednesday, Wilson wrote the state wants the trial held in November. Wilson said it is both reasonable and necessary to do it at that time because she is also trying the case against suspected Mother Emanuel AME Church shooter Dylann Roof in July.
Slager is accused of murdering Walter Scott during a traffic stop on April 4.
According to the motion, a hearing on the matter will be held Monday.
