Bunnies seized from North Charleston home now in Florida

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston Animal Society says most of the 72 bunnies seized from a North Charleston home are now in Florida where they will find new homes.

"Operation 'Hopping to Florida' successful," CAS officials posted on Facebook."Bunnies delivered to Halifax Humane Society We have an amazing community of animal heroes! Without your donations we would not have the resources to save so many lives! Very proud to be a part of this lifesaving team!"

The journey from North Charleston to Florida started on New Year's Day.

"The bunnies were liberated from horrible conditions on Sunday, as part of over 100 animals found in a North Charleston home," CAS officials said."All of the animals were suffering, their fur matted covered in fleas and mites and suffering from lack of food and veterinary care."

According to the CAS, the bunnies bound for Florida were transported by shelter staff in a climate controlled rescue trailer.

Over 100 animals were seized from a home on Selah Street on Sunday.
