CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

The New Year has welcomed new additions to families in the Lowcountry.

The first baby born in Charleston this year, Weston, was delivered at Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital at 1:40 a.m, according to Roper St. Francis Healtcare officials.

"Arriving a week early, Weston was eager to meet his first-time-parents, Shelly and Brian," said Shane Ellis with Roper St. Francis."Mom and Dad are looking forward to a little rest after celebrating the New Year in such amazing style and with so much love."

MUSC officials say the first baby born at their hospital arrived at 1:52 a.m.
