Forty years ago today Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum opened.

To help celebrate this occasion, the museum will ask visitors to name their own admission price January 9 and 10.

This will be the fifth year the museum has offered a "Pay What You Can" weekend. Instead of paying the standard admission and parking fees, guests are able to visit the museum for any price they can afford.

This year, the event coincides with the 40th anniversary and will kick off the celebration.

Normal museum admission rates are $20 for adults, with military in uniform and children under six allowed in for free. Parking usually costs $5. During the "Pay-What-You-Can" weekend, visitors can pay whatever they feel comfortable paying for admission and parking.

Every ticket will include all three historic vessels, the Medal of Honor Museum and the Vietnam Experience Exhibit.

The Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
