Man arrested for burglary after testing police chief's home

GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) - A South Carolina man faces burglary and other charges after authorities say he tried to rob the home of Greenville's police chief.

Multiple media outlets reported that 22-year-old Prentice Demarcus Grant is charged with burglary and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Greenville police say he fired shots while running away from Police Chief Ken Miller's home after being scared off. Miller said he didn't know if the three shots were meant to scare or hurt him.

Investigators say Miller's dog started barking at 4 a.m. on Nov. 21. Miller looked outside and spotted a man and took cover behind a part of his back porch.

Miller pointed a gun and flashlight at the intended robber and ordered him to freeze.

The suspect yelled and ran away.
