CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - A crash sent a Charleston County deputy to the hospital Saturday with non-life threatening injuries.
The deputy, whose name was not released, responded Saturday shortly after 10 p.m. to help a fellow deputy engaged in a vehicle pursuit of a possible DUI driver, according to Maj. Eric Watson.
The deputy, who was headed to the area of Main Road and Highway 17 to deploy stop sticks, lost control of his vehicle and struck a ditch, Watson said.
He was transported to MUSC to be treated for back and neck injuries and was later released, he said.
Deputies say the deputy who was injured was not engaged in the actual vehicle pursuit at the time of the crash.
The crash occurred on Highway 17 just south of Dobbin Road, Watson said.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
