SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) - The Dorchester County Water and Sewer Department is alerting its customers that they may have been billed twice for water and sewer service by error.
Approximately 1,166 customer accounts were debited twice on New Year's Eve, according to a release from the department. The accounts were supposed to have been debited once to pay for December service.
"The Water and Sewer Department is working with its software vendor, Kubra, to correct this issue by reversing these transactions," the utility said a release. "We apologize for any issues that this duplicate charge may have caused."
Officials say any charges imposed by a customer's bank will be refunded once they are researched and verified, the release states.
