BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Traffic remains slow-moving following an accident that shut down eastbound lanes of I-26 near the Jedburg exit in Berkeley County earlier in the afternoon.
The accident, which involved an 18-wheeler, happened near mile marker 192, two miles away from the exit for Jedburg Road and Pinopolis, according to Lance Corporal Hannah Wimberly.

The incident was earlier described on the South Carolina Department of Public Safety site as a "hazardous materials spill," however Wimberly says there is no hazmat spill at the scene.
Traffic on eastbound I-26 is being diverted at exit 187 to U.S. 78, she said. At 2:46 p.m., heavy traffic congestion was reported on I-26 between Ridgeville Road and Jedburg Road, with live drive speeds down to about 10 miles per hour.
Traffic in the westbound lanes near the crash site were initially closed as well, but those lanes have reopened, Wimberly said.
No fatalities have been reported in the crash.
