JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCSC) -

Investigators have arrested a teenager accused of starting a fire at James Island Charter High School Thursday morning.

The Charleston Police Department charged 17-year-old Johnethan Aaron Esparza with second-degree arson.

Esparza, who attends the school, was locked up at the Al Cannon Detention Center.

Police and fire units arrived at the school at 10 a.m. for a fire in one of the school's bathrooms.

Authorities say the fire was quickly extinguished and no one was injured.

The Charleston Police Department and the CFD Fire Marshals Division are investigating.
