NORTH CHARLESTON (WCSC) -

Police have arrested a teenager accused of a murder on Christmas Eve in North Charleston.

Quintavis A. Toomer, 16, has been charged with murder, attempted murder, armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.

According to NCPD officials, Toomer was brought in to police headquarters Thursday morning for questioning for the Dec. 24 murder of 19-year-old Derek Burgress of North Charleston.

Burgess died from the early morning shooting at the Extended Stay America Hotel on North Arco Lane.

Police say the incident started when Burgess arranged a date with a female via the website Backpage.com.

When he arrived at the hotel, the female opened the door and he, along with a second subject armed with a handgun entered the room, police said.

According to investigators, the subject brandishing the handgun allegedly asked the female, "Where's the money?"

The female victim screamed and moments later two of her associates, including the 24-year-old shooting victim, who were nearby, ran to the room where a struggle ensued and ended with shots being fired, a report states.
