COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - The Columbia Metropolitan Airport welcomed more than 1 million travelers last year.
The State of Columbia (http://bit.ly/1OVSSRo ) reports the airport welcomed 30,000 more passengers in 2015 than it had in 2014. This marked the airport's fourth consecutive year of growth - a string of sustained growth it hasn't seen since 1986.
Airport director Dan Mann says the airport enjoyed the growth without the advantage of a low-cost carrier in the market. The airport's three main carriers are American Eagle, United and Delta.
Mann says airlines are beginning to notice that travelers will support the air service they have and that their carriers are responding by adding more seat capacity.
Mann says flights with bigger planes and dual-class cabin services to Dallas are scheduled for the summer.
