CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A fire at a home on Kirkland Lane forced the temporary closure of streets in the immediate area Wednesday afternoon.
Units from Charleston and St. Andrews Fire Departments, Charleston Police, and Charleston EMS arrived at the three-story home at approximately 3:26 p.m. Wednesday, according to Charleston Fire spokesman Ryan Kunitzer.
Firefighters reported heavy smoke venting from the attic of the home.
A resident called 911 after smoke filled the home, Kunitzer said.
The fire was contained to two rooms on the first floor and smoke and heat damaged the first and second floors, he said.
No injuries were reported.
The Charleston Fire Department's Fire Marshal Division is investigating the cause.
