ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - A magistrate judge in an Orangeburg County courtroom denied bond to two men arrested moments after an armed robbery was reported.
Tyrone Stevenson, 22, and Dondre Givens, 23, were both charged with first-degree burglary and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
The initial call came out just before 10 p.m. on Tuesday. A woman told 911 operators an armed robbery was in progress at a Campus Corner apartment, according to Orangeburg Sheriff's spokesman Richard Walker.
Orangeburg deputies were patrolling in that area at the time the call came in, leading to a fast response.
"Our deputies arrived on scene within seconds," Orangeburg Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said.
Responding deputies reported hearing gunfire coming from an apartment, Walker said. Deputies ordered anyone inside the apartment to come out, and three males fled on foot. Two were caught almost immediately, he said.
"After gunfire and a foot chase, the deputies were able to arrest two subjects not far from the apartment where they went in armed with a rifle and handgun," Ravenell said.
Ravenell said two weapons, a .45-caliber handgun and an assault-type rifle, were recovered from the suspects. The handgun was determined to have been stolen out of Dorchester County.
Anyone with information on a third suspect is asked to contact the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office at (803) 534-3550 or Crimestoppers at (888) CRIME-SC.
