ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Agents of the S.C. Law Enforcement Division are continuing to work on their investigation of an incident early Saturday morning in which someone shot at a deputy of the Orangeburg County Sheriffs Department.
The deputy had been called to a disturbance at the Coasters Club on Old Number Six Highway in Santee.
The deputy, who returned fire, was not hurt.
Interviews are being conducted with the responding officers and others. There is no video of the incident.
This is an ongoing investigation.
The incident was the second officer involved shooting in South Carolina in 2016 and the first this year involving a deputy of the Orangeburg County Sheriffs Department.
In 2015, there were 48 officer involved shooting incidents in South Carolina, none involving the Orangeburg County Sheriffs Department
