NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The Berkeley County Coroner has identified the victim of the crash that shut down parts of I-526 Saturday morning.
22-year-old Jacob Hull of Mount Pleasant was killed when his SUV struck a barrier on the Don Holt Bridge sending it over the edge of the bridge into the marsh.
Hull was pronounced dead at the scene, the Coroner says Hull was wearing his seat belt.
Charleston Police, as well as several other local agencies, and the United States Coast Guard responded to the call.
The accident shut down the east bound lanes of I-526 for nearly six hours.
Charleston Police say they are still investigating the exact cause of the accident, but they say that the inclement weather does not seem to be the cause.
