CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Voters must be registered by the deadline in order to participate in the South Carolina Democratic Presidential Primary.
The State Election Commission's voter registration deadline for the Democratic Primary is Wednesday, January 27, 2016. Anyone who wants to vote in next month's Democratic Primary must be registered. The deadline for the Republican Primary has already passed.
Anyone who has not registered to vote in South Carolina before, moved from one county to another or changed their name recently should update their voter registration. If you have moved within the same county, you do not have to register, but you should update your address with the county.
Registration and information can both be done online at scvotes.org up until midnight on the deadline day.
Voters can also register or update information by:
- Visiting the county registration and elections office.
- Downloading a voter registration form online, completing and returning it to the county voter registration and elections office.
- The form can be submitted by mail (postmarked by deadline), by fax (received by deadline), or by email (received by deadline).
The South Carolina Democratic Primary will be held Saturday, February 27, 2016.
The South Carolina Republican Primary will be held Saturday, February 20, 2016.
