GEORGETOWN, SC (WCSC) - A Georgetown based animal rescue group and sanctuary will hold its annual fund raiser for in February.
The fifth annual Chocolate and Champagne for the Creatures, a fundraiser for SC Cares, is scheduled for Feb. 13 in Socastee.
A ticket purchase entitles the guest to two flutes of champagne, hors d'oeuvres, all the chocolate candy and desserts they can eat made by Sweeties Pralines and Chocolates in Georgetown and local chocolatiers, wine and beer, non-alcoholic beverages for those who don't drink alcohol, and silent auctions.
Tickets are $30 per person and $50 per couple, but sales are limited to 150, so early purchase is recommended.
SC CARES has helped place more than 160 resident animals in new homes. The animals range in size from a native flying squirrel to a 1,500 pound bovine named Mayflower. There are animals that originate from every continent except Antarctica, including African Sulcata tortoises, a llama, South American macaws, bearded dragons, and a Burmese python.
SC CARES also rescues, rehabilitates, and releases injured wildlife.
