NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A husband and wife are behind bars following a bank robbery in North Charleston Wednesday afternoon.
North Charleston police investigators charged Erik King with entering a financial institution with the intent to steal. King's wife, Kimberlee King, was also arrested on the same charges.
A report states that the couple are from Hanahan.
NCPD officials say the incident started at 4 p.m. when a white male subject entered the First Citizens Bank on Ashley Phosphate Road at Stafford Drive and presented a note to the teller demanding money.
According to police, the suspect did not produce a weapon.
"The teller complied with the demand and the suspect exited the bank with an undetermined amount of money," NCPD officials say.
Investigators say the suspect was captured a short distance away on Rivers Avenue near Ashley Phosphate Road beside a nearby restaurant.
"A female subject was also seen conversing with the suspect at this location (Rivers Avenue)," NCPD officials said."She was located inside of a vehicle in the parking lot of Wal Mart."
NCPD authorities say Kimberlee King drove her husband to the bank.
Witnesses said several NCPD units responded to the scene.
