NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

The North Charleston Police Department is searching for a man accused of exposing himself to a clerk at Tanger Outlets.

According to investigators, a subject captured on camera was reportedly committing a sexual act on himself in front of a clerk at a store at the shopping center.

"He left the store prior to police arrival but then began calling the store and asking for the clerk," NCPD officials said.

NCPD investigators describe the suspect as a black male between 26 and 35 years old, nearly shaved head, small amount of facial hair around his mouth and wearing black jeans with a black track jacket and white t-shirt underneath.

Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to call North Charleston Police at 843-554-5700 or Crimestoppers at 843-554-1111.

The victim said a man entered the store on the night of Jan. 21 and started to talk to her about flip flops.

The man then asked her how long she had worked at the store, if she lived in the Charleston area and if she was working at the store the next day, according to police.

The victim said she told the suspect that she was married at some point in the conversation.

According to the victim, the suspect had a cell phone to his ear but did not seem to be talking at all, and the suspect told the victim he was on hold.

The victim said the suspect's phone had a blank screen.

Police say the victim then told the suspect the store was closing soon and he needed to leave before the store closed.

The victim then called the manager and looked at surveillance in which authorities say they noticed the suspect had exposed himself as he was in the store and was committing sexual acts on himself while looking at the victim over racks of flip flops.

Authorities said they located evidence of the incident.

The victim told officers that she did not see the suspect's genitals but knew something was not right.

Officials with the North Charleston Police Department say they have had several reported incidents of a black male exposing himself to people in and around Tanger Outlets.
