CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Help is available for anyone still needing to sign up for health care though the federal marketplace before the Open Enrollment deadline.
Anyone seeking health care through the Affordable Care Act needs to be signed up before the Open Enrollment period ends Sunday, January 31, 2016. The Palmetto Community Action Partnership is hosting a free sign-up event Saturday, January 30. The event will be at the John L. Dart Library on King Street in downtown Charleston from 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
Certified ACA agents will be on hand to help anyone use healthcare.gov to sign up for coverage, subsidies and discounts ahead of the deadline. The average sign-up takes about 10 minutes. Anyone who doesn't have health coverage by the deadline could face penalties of up to $695 per uninsured person in a household.
