ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Investigators say an argument over a car led to a shotgun shooting in Orangeburg County.
The Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office charged 48-year-old Charlie Riley of Cordova with attempted murder.
On Sunday afternoon, deputies were called to Riley's Parker Street home where witnesses said a 42-year-old Orangeburg man had been shot.
"The victim had been driven to the Regional Medical Center before investigators arrived," OCSO officials said.
An OCSO Victim's Advocate told the court the victim was "fighting for his life."
According to witnesses, the two men got into an argument over a car.
Witnesses told deputies that Riley said he was being threatened by the victim before he shot him in the chest.
"The victim later told investigators he got into a car and was attempting to leave Riley's property when Riley shot him," OCSO officials said.
Riley appeared before Orangeburg County Magistrate Peggy Doremus for a hearing on Monday where bond was set on the two charges at $50,000 with a 10 percent option, according to the sheriff's office.
