NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The North Charleston Police Department will begin to provide surveillance to designated areas in which residents can meet to conduct online transactions.

According to a news release, the department will launch three "Online Exchange Zones" to provide citizens with a safe place to complete an online transaction in which something is bought or sold.

The designated areas will be under 24-hour video surveillance.

The department will hold a news conference on Friday morning to further discuss the new program.
