ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Agents of the S.C. Law Enforcement Division Friday charged an Orangeburg man in connection with a Jan. 16 incident when gunshots were fired at an Orangeburg County Sheriff's deputy in Santee.
Gino Shakir Brown, 23, of Orangeburg, was charged with attempted murder, a felony which carries a penalty upon conviction of up to 30 years in prison without the possibility of suspension or probation.
Brown was also charged with possession of a weapon during a violent crime, which carries a penalty upon conviction of five years in prison in addition to the punishment for the principle crime.
Brown was booked at the Orangeburg-Calhoun Regional Detention Center.
The case was investigated jointly by SLED and the Orangeburg County Sheriffs Department.
The case will be prosecuted by the First Circuit Solicitor's Office.
