GOOSE CREEK, SC (WCSC) -

Police identified the suspect they say robbed a convenience store on Redbank Road in Goose Creek.

Robert Jones, 17, is charged with armed robbery with a deadly weapon, kidnapping and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, according to Goose Creek Police Capt. John Grainger.

Grainger said Jones's arrest followed a tip investigators received from someone who had seen surveillance images in local media.

In that incident, which occurred on Jan. 24, the clerk told police the suspect approached her, pointed a gun at her and demanded money.

Jones was arrested Monday, Grainger said.

Police say Jones is also a suspect in a similar robbery being investigated by the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office, Grainger said.

Shortly after the K9 unit arrived at the robbery location, police learned a second armed robbery occurred further down Red Bank Road near Goose Creek High School and the suspect description was "an exact match," police said.

That second location does fall within the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office jurisdiction, Grainger said.
