MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) - Mount Pleasant Mayor Linda Page is calling for unity in her State of the Town Address Tuesday night.

"Mount Pleasant is unlike any other community in the nation," Page said. "Excellence is not our goal; it's our starting point."

Prior to the address, a video was played before a crowded town council chambers that focused on the town's progress and achievements.

Page says she wants the town to know although some council members are at a stalemate, they are united for a better cause: improving life in the town.

"My ultimate goal for this year is for Town Council to develop a unified vision for the community and to work with one another," Page said. "Our top 3 legislative priorities: infrastructure, local government revenue and growth management."

In her roughly six-page address, Page will map out her 2016 vision for the Town, from transportation and infrastructure improvements around the area, to  more funding for transportation and a better storm water drainage system.

She'll also tackle defending revenue for the town at the state level. She says she hopes to receive better aid for local government and businesses, in the coming year. Lastly, Page says her goal is to enhance the quality of life for the town.

"This council has a lot to do this year. But, I am confident we will accomplish every goal we set for ourselves," she said.
