. - Steve Silberman, author of NeuroTribes, will speak at the Sottile Theater Wednesday at 7 p.m.
In his book Silberman explores the history of autism and how society has responded to people on the autism spectrum.
Silberman lays out groundwork for how society can provide those living with autism access to healthier, happier more secure lives.
In April, Silberman will bring his concerns to the United Nations. He says the one country that is really setting the example for the world to follow is England.
"England has been working for a long time on transition services to help young autistic people take their place in the workplace and live in their communities." Silberman continued, "And we have a lot to learn from England in that regard."
The Psychology Department from the College of Charleston is hosting Silberman. The discussion is free and open to the public.
