Elementary school off lockdown after teacher reported man with gun

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

A North Charleston elementary school was on a brief lockdown Friday after a teacher spotted a man with what appeared to be a gun.

A teacher at Matilda Dunston Elementary School saw the a man through a window and notified authorities, according to North Charleston Police spokesman Spencer Pryor. Police say the man was in his yard with a BB gun and all has since been cleared.

The school was returning to normal operations by 2 p.m. after being on lockdown for "a short while," according to Charleston County School District spokesman Daniel Head.
