FOLLY BEACH, SC (WCSC) - A Charleston County detention deputy was arrested Wednesday on a charge of financial identity fraud.
Detention Deputy Kaitlyn Daniels was taken into custody by Folly Beach Police on Wednesday, according to Charleston County Sheriff's Maj. Eric Watson.
Daniels was hired by the Charleston County Sheriff's Office on Jan. 22 and was placed on administrative leave without pay as of Wednesday, Watson said.
Officials with the Folly Beach Department of Public Safety say Daniels' arrest was part of an investigation into a reported financial fraud case.
According to police, the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are possible in the case.
"The Charleston County Sheriff's Department was made aware of the potential arrest and was very proactive in its assistance in this case," Folly Beach police said."Other than being employed by the county, there appears to be no correlation between her job and the crime that she is charged with committing."
